You might be unsure of the reliability of the new airline Avelo Airlines if you want to travel with them. You can read this review to learn everything there is to know about Avelo Airlines.
Finding Avelo while flying domestically on a tight budget within the US? Find out about the newest low-cost carrier, Avelo Airlines.
What is Avelo Airlines?
Avelo Airlines, which will launch operations in 2021, utilizes smaller airports to reduce travel time and costs.
They strive to offer clients affordable, low-cost fares on their flights in the hopes of inspiring travel.
Andrew Levy founded and is the owner of Avelo Airlines. He was a co-founder, the president of Allegiant Air, and the former CFO of United Airlines.
Where Does Avelo Airlines Fly?
On the east and west coasts, respectively, are the two bases of Avelo Airlines. You can’t fly them across the country because the places they go don’t connect the two routes (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!).
On routes to the East Coast, they use the slightly smaller 737-700 while on the West Coast, they use the longer 737-800. Not every route operates every day; in fact, the majority only runs three or four times a week.
Avelo’s West Coast Operations
From Burbank and a few destinations in Las Vegas, Avelo Airlines offers flights all along the West coast. There are stops in Boise, Eureka/Arcata, Sonoma/Santa Rosa, Redding, Fort Collins (CO), Las Vegas, Bend/Redmond, Eugene, Medford/Rogue Valley, Ogden Utah, Pasco/Tri-Cities, and Spokane, among other places.
Avelo’s East Coast Operations
Northeastern New Haven, Connecticut They fly to well-known locations on the East Coast, mainly in Florida. Those on the West Coast typically travel to smaller cities or auxiliary airports.
The two sides of the nation are very different from one another. There are some places with flights from Burbank that are underserved. The flights to Florida from New Haven, however, are much more geared toward leisure travel.
This opposition is logical. New York and New England travelers frequently travel to Florida. Flights to Florida are in nearly constant demand. The West coast doesn’t experience the same level of demand.
The west coast doesn’t have a sizable population in one place (New York, for instance) who primarily wants to go to another place (Florida).
Book the Cheapest Avelo Flights
If you’re still searching for inexpensive Avelo Airlines airfare, use SkyScanner to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
SkyScanner assists you in locating the most affordable flights so you can avoid paying more for tickets and put that money toward other activities or meals instead.
Avelo Airlines Baggage Restrictions
It’s wise to be aware of baggage allowances and any supplemental fees before you travel.
What is the baggage fee for Avelo? One personal item and one carry-on are permitted per Avelo passenger. In order to fit under the seat, the personal item can’t be larger than 14″L x 9″W x 9.5″H (35 cm x 22 cm x 24 cm).
Personal items are free, but carry-on bags incur an additional cost. Your carry-on must weigh under 35lbs and measure less than 22″ L x 9″ W x 14″ H. Beginning in February 2022, the price of the carry-on bag will be $40 when purchased online and $50 when purchased in person at the airport.
When purchasing your ticket online, you can pre-order a bag if you want to check one.
A checked bag is limited in size and weight to 50 pounds and 62 inches overall. You can purchase checked bags for $35 online or $45 at the airport.
Cost of Flying on Avelo Airlines
Almost everything is an ancillary cost when it comes to Ultra Low-Cost Carriers (ULCCs), in case you’re not familiar. There is a price for everything, excluding the plane ticket. Notice that I said, “ticket to get on the plane”? You will need to make a payment if you want to select your seat in advance.
Price of Ticket
same as any airline, flight, route, etc., ticket prices fluctuate. I reserved my seat a little over a month in advance. A one-way ticket from Burbank, California, to Pasco, Washington, cost $59 in total. Although I didn’t find anything lower, I’m sure it can go up, especially if you book close to your departure date.
Ancillary Fees, Or “Add Ons”
Avelo Airlines uses the term “add-ons” for everything that they charge for. Since it is their business model, they can call it almost anything they want even though it is really just ancillary revenue.
A checked bag cost $35 and a carry-on cost $40 for the flight I was taking. These costs cost an additional $10 if you pay them at the airport.
The printing of your boarding pass at the airport is free, unlike some other ULCCs (I’m looking at you, Spirit). You can’t really fly without one, even though printing one costs the airline money. Well done for not charging.
Avelo Airlines Cancellation Policy
Despite my best efforts, I understand that life happens and that you might not be able to make it to your Avelo flight.
Up to 15 minutes prior to the flight’s scheduled departure, you can cancel it using Avelo. All canceled reservations are given Avelo Travel Funds that can be used on upcoming flights with Avelo.
Be aware that there will be a $20 fee for any cancellations made through Avelo’s customer support center.
A refund to the original payment method is possible for cancellations made up to 24 hours after the purchase and up to 7 days before the scheduled departure, but this must be done through the Customer Support Center.
Avelo doesn’t charge any change fees for flights that need to be changed, but you will be responsible for paying the fare difference if your new flight is more expensive than your original one.
If the new flight is less expensive, the difference will be given to you in Avelo Travel Funds, which must be used within a year of the original flight’s cancellation date.
Similar to cancellations, you can change your flight reservation up to 15 minutes prior to takeoff.
Customers Reviews
There aren’t many Avelo Airlines reviews online because it’s a newer airline, but many previous customers have praised its offerings.
The primary disadvantage of Avelo is their flight schedules, and they don’t always fly out of the most convenient airports. The place you’re trying to go and the point of departure, however, is completely dependent on this.
Additionally, travelers have voiced their concerns about the lack of staff at airports and the lengthy waits to speak with customer service.
Nevertheless, despite the fact that Avelo is a low-cost airline, the majority of reviews are favorable regarding the service and the value.
Avelo Airlines Review: Summary
Avelo went above and beyond. We had the same level of experience customization available to us as with other ULCCs. Our flight still cost less than $100 even with additional fees. The opportunity to travel through a smaller, more convenient airport was a plus, and everything worked out well overall.
Whether you choose to travel outside of the US on your next adventure or fly domestically with Avelo, we want to make your journey as easy as possible.
